For an outdoor music and art festival at Stanford's Frost Amphitheater, I led a group of 7 in creating "The Lady."
She is built from collected driftwood, lashed together with twine and wire to a welded rebar frame, and adorned with flowers and holi powder. The Lady faces the viewer, arms open to receive you in her embrace. She is set back behind two walls past an archway, such that you view her only from directly in front. You walk by and suddenly she appears, awaiting your entrance. Stretched from her arms to the archway are strings, on which people hung "wishes" throughout the day. From the lintel hangs the word "drift."
