What

This virtual workshop was a moment to dive deep into how you design for environment, journey, and experience through the lens of feelings. Working with a team across continents, we dove into a single feeling we wanted to inspire through the future pedestrian experience of Dubai, and brought in analogous examples and multi-sensory synthesis in service of creating design principles and signature experiences.

Why & Who

This workshop was for an existing project partnership between  The Dubai Design Lab, Gehl,  and an external client. The core team was at a moment of having identified a series of central needs for pedestrians, and wanted inspiration, a framework, and a new set of tools to consider how they might design emotionally impactful experiences and environments.

Emergent questions

  • How do you design for feelings through spaces, environments, artifacts, and interactions?

  • What does it really mean to feel ‘cared for’?

  • What might it look like for a government agency to design for care?
