Designing for Future Users

A workshop exploring the edges and nature of creative technology 🌀 2021

What

This interactive experience took participants on a journey through the inspiring ways emerging technology has shaped society, an examination of enchanted objects – to question the potential implications of when machines can think, generate art, and be “smart”, and an exploration of trust and digital transaction – to investigate the future of money, ownership, and belief.

Why & Who

This digital workshop was created in collaboration with Shuya Gong, futurist and venture designer, and first given for an international audience of Product Managers at Ernst and Young. The purpose of the workshop was to inspire participants to think creatively about designing for future users, and provide a practical and emotional primer on applying human-centered design to emerging technologies.

Emergent questions

  • How do you identify the unexpected and weird ways that humans want to use technology in ways that it's not yet designed to do?

  • What does technology make simpler, and what does it complexify?

  • Why does technology exist, and what does it have to do with trust?
